The superior prevention of pressure ulcers offered by the BodyZone™ medical mattress starts with the foam itself. BodyZone™ is constructed from a revolutionary, new, 3rd generation memory foam. This all-natural foam is significantly denser than previous generations of memory foam (providing increased comfort), while also being more permeable than traditional visco. Its wide-open cell design improves the "breathability" essential to a quality medical mattress, and has already set a new standard for temperature and moisture management in support surfaces.

Surface Modification Technology SMT^SM is our patented post-production process that allows us to alter foam five different ways, providing customized solutions for any industry need. In the BodyZone™ support surfaces system, we use SMT^SM to enhance the comfort and performance of our new 3rd generation memory foam. SMT^SM allows us to create the multi-zone construction of BodyZone™ support surfaces that alternates firm support and pressure redistribution precisely where it's needed. This not only augments protection against pressure ulcers, it also provides better spinal alignment for patients. In laboratory testing, SMT^SM improved medical mattress pressure redistribution by a significant amount.

Our innovation doesn't stop at the top foam layer; each BodyZone™ medical mattress is topped with a unique 360° stretch cover that glides gently in any direction to minimize friction and shear forces when a patient is turned or moved to prevent pressure ulcers. Both the cover and medical mattress core are antimicrobially treated, and are impervious to fluids. In the BodyZone™ 500, BodyZone™ 700, and BodyZone™ 1000 mattresses, an additional top layer of SMT^SM foam, Microspring^SM, is added to further enhance patient comfort and reduce friction and shear on support surfaces.
