FXI names John Cowles President and Chief Executive Officer
FXI, a foam-based solutions company, announced today that its Board of Directors has named John Cowles President & Chief Executive Officer of the Company and a member of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Jack Johnson is retiring after six years and two tours of duty but will remain on the Board as Non-Executive Chairman.

Anatomic Global donates 500 “transitional” sleep surface products to Haiti
Leading U.S. memory foam mattress manufacturer Anatomic Global said today it has joined with five of its key suppliers and Parakletos International to donate specially designed “transitional” sleep surface products to displaced Haitians. Parakletos, a national cooperative effort of the Calvary Chapel Churches, has already delivered the first of these “WorldBed” products to a clinic in Jacmel, Southern Haiti, an area still cut off from Porte–au-Prince and without aid from any outside resource. At the same time, another 500 “WorldBeds” are being shipped this week.

The Cornelius Facility manufactures flexible polyurethane foam products used in the production of mattresses for the bedding industry as well as foam products for the automotive and furniture industries.

Friendly Employee Competition Feeds Hungry
It started with an unusual yet creative idea from Rich Strozyk, Plant Manager of the Fort Wayne facility of FXI Foamex Innovations, at a monthly town hall meeting; a food drive with a twist. He proposed a race, Nascar style, between the departments and himself to see who could collect the most pounds of food for Community Harvest Food Bank. Simple enough, but to make it more interesting, pennies could be donated to the opposing teams to deduct pounds from their totals. Various prizes were collected for the winning team, and a trophy was made from foam. And so the “Race for the Barrel” began.

FXI Launches Sleep Products Design Competition for Philadelphia University Students - Competition to Provide Students with Hands-On Industry Experience
FXI Foamex Innovations, the Philadelphia-based foam innovations company, is partnering with Philadelphia University on a design competition for students to create a new memory foam sleep product for the retail market. The semester-long competition for undergraduate and graduate students is meant to enhance their educations, provide hands-on industry experience, help prepare the students for future employment and, quite possibly, uncover the next great sleep product innovation.

Launch of FXI announced - Sale of Foamex International to MatlinPatterson/Black Diamond Group Creates FXI
A new company, FXI - Foamex Innovations, was formed today resulting from the acquisition of Foamex International Inc. by MatlinPatterson Global Opportunities Partners III L.P. and Black Diamond Capital Management, L.L.C. MatlinPatterson and Black Diamond completed the acquisition of substantially all of the Foamex assets on June 12, 2009.
